Bitwig workshops at Kilele festival on February 24, 2026

Bitwig-events-2026-Kilele
Next week we’ll be hosting two workshops at Kilele, East Africa’s first and only summit for music, tech, and culture. Happening at The Mall, Nairobi, the third edition of Kilele offers a little bit of Bitwig for everyone. Beginners can learn how to create their first beat in a workshop with Bitwig Certified Trainer Hendrick Sam, while Kevin Karanja aka Atroklept will explore the link between sound and visuals in a workshop on Bitwig’s integration with Touch Designer. Both workshops will take place on February 24, 2026 – find out more below.

13:00–15:00 Bitwig Studio Workshop: Zero to First Beat in 2 Hours

In this fast-paced session Hendrick Sam will walk participants through the basics of making music with a DAW and guide them in creating their first beat. Hendrick Sam is a Bitwig Certified Trainer, accomplished music producer, audio engineer, multi-instrumentalist, and educator based in Nairobi, Kenya. Over the past years, he has been shaping the next generation of audio professionals at the Africa Digital Media Institute (ADMI).

15:00–17:00 Bitwig Studio: Generative Music and Visuals with TouchDesigner

This workshop will open up creative connections between sound and visuals using Bitwig’s integration with TouchDesigner. Workshop host Kevin Karanja will explore how to translate visual data from TouchDesigner – such as pattern, brightness, and motion – into musical parameters like pitch, rhythm, and timbre, and to use generative visuals as a co-composer for music. Kevin Karanja aka Atroklept is a Nairobi-based creative technologist who operates at the intersection of visual art, music, and technology.

Both workshops are free but registration is required. You can sign up here.
