Noh Yoomi is a composer and Bitwig Certified Trainer based in Seoul, South Korea, whose work bridges orchestral tradition and electronic innovation. With a foundation in classical composition from Hanyang University and a master’s degree in film scoring from Ewha Womans University, she explores the dynamic intersection of Korean traditional music and contemporary electronic sound. Her performances often feature modular synthesis and real-time sound processing, creating immersive sonic experiences.
Yoomi has contributed to a range of interdisciplinary projects, including reimagining Korean ritual performances through electronic instrumentation and collaborating on AI-based composition research with a leading South Korean game company’s Music AI team. Her diverse interests reflect a deep commitment to innovation, both artistically and technically.
Currently teaching electronic and film music at the college level, she inspires students to approach technology not just as a tool, but as an expressive medium. Her educational philosophy emphasizes experimentation and the integration of sound into broader artistic narratives.
Artistically, Yoomi is driven by a fascination with transforming noise into tone and everyday sound into meaning. Her work blurs the boundaries between music, sound, and environment, aiming to redefine the listening experience. Through her unique synthesis of traditional elements and cutting-edge sound design, she continues to expand the horizons of sound art, rooted in both cultural heritage and forward-thinking exploration.
