Dimitris Menexopoulos

Dimitris Menexopoulos (aka Menex) is a versatile composer, sound designer, music technologist, and multi-instrumentalist from Thessaloniki, Greece. Having an academic background in geoscience, electronic production, and design, he often draws elements from a wide spectrum in the fields of art and science to carry out his work. 

He has two solo albums under his name (Phenomena - 2014, Perpetuum Mobile - 2017), an EP (40 EP - 2020), a virtual reality video game soundtrack (The Village - 2019), and various performances internationally. His collaborations include electronic musician Robert Rich (Vestiges - 2016), director Shekhar Kapur (Brides of the Well - 2018), and film composer George Kallis (Cliffs of Freedom - 2019) among others. As a designer, he has presented work at sites including the Barbican Centre (Nesta FutureFest - 2019, with Akvile Terminaite), the Somerset House (24 Hours in Uchronia with Helga Schmid - 2020), and Apple Regent Street (Today at Apple - 2020, with Yiming Yang). His current research is on innovative music creation systems. His original devices have been displayed at prestigious venues in the UK (Iklectik - 2020), France (IRCAM - 2019, 2020), and the USA (Mass MoCA - 2019). 

His teaching experience includes music technology workshops as well as private and group instruction sessions. He is currently based in London, UK.

Ο Δημήτρης Μενεξόπουλος (γνωστός και ως Menex) είναι ένας ευπροσάρμοστος συνθέτης, σχεδιαστής ήχου, τεχνολόγος μουσικής και πολυοργανίστας από τη Θεσσαλονίκη. Έχοντας ακαδημαϊκό υπόβαθρο στις Γεωεπιστήμες, την Ηλεκτρονική Παραγωγή και το Design, συχνά αντλεί στοιχεία από ένα ευρύ φάσμα στους τομείς της Τέχνης και της Επιστήμης για την εκτέλεση του έργου του. Έχει εκδώσει δύο σόλο άλμπουμ (Phenomena - 2014, Perpetuum Mobile - 2017), ένα EP (40 EP - 2020) και ένα soundtrack βιντεοπαιχνιδιών εικονικής πραγματικότητας (The Village - 2019). Η μουσική του έχει παιχτεί σε διάφορες συναυλίες διεθνώς. Οι συνεργασίες του περιλαμβάνουν τον ηλεκτρονικό μουσικό Robert Rich (Vestiges - 2016), τον σκηνοθέτη Shekhar Kapur (Brides of the Well - 2018) και τον συνθέτη ταινιών George Kallis (Cliffs of Freedom - 2019) μεταξύ άλλων. Η διδακτική του εμπειρία περιλαμβάνει εργαστήρια τεχνολογίας μουσικής, καθώς και ιδιωτικές και ομαδικές συνεδρίες διδασκαλίας. Αυτή τη στιγμή εδρεύει στο Λονδίνο.
