Won Youngjo

He earned a Master’s Degree in Jazz Piano from the State University of New York at Purchase and later completed a Ph.D. in New Media Music at Sangmyung University in Seoul, Korea.
Professionally, Won Youngjo has performed extensively as a full-time member of both the Janus Jazz Orchestra and the MBC Orchestra, and he currently serves as the Music Director of the Gyeonggi Provincial Pops Ensemble. His live performances include appearances at the Muju International Jazz Festival, the Uljin Jazz Festival with Ryu Bok-sung’s Latin Jazz All-Stars, and the 2008 Jarasum International Jazz Festival. He was also a session pianist for Lee Oskar’s Korea Tour. In 2009, he was selected as one of Korea’s top 10 jazz pianists and invited to perform in the prestigious “100 Golden Fingers” concert held at the Mapo Art Center.
In addition to his work as a performer and producer, Won Youngjo plays an active academic role. He currently heads the Studio Composition Department at Kukje University of the Arts (KUA), where he continues to mentor the next generation of musicians while pursuing his own artistic vision.
