Does Bitwig Studio support:

OSC? We plan to offer OSC support in the future.
ReWire? There is no ReWire support planned, but if you want to route audio and MIDI between different applications, you might want to take a look at the JACK Audio Connection Kit, which is available for OSX, Win and Linux.

MP3 & AIF: Import.
Will the Linux version of Bitwig Studio support:

Why Doesn't Bitwig Studio Support Audio Units?

Since Audio Units are only available to Mac OS X, Bitwig has focused development on integration and stability with VST plug-ins.  Future versions of Bitwig Studio may include support for Audio Units, for which details cannot be provided at this time.

Yes, Bitwig Studio offers default mappings for the most popular Midi controllers right out of the box. We also offer an open API so that interested users and developers can create their own controller support using Java extensions or JavaScript and share their scripts with the Bitwig community.

There's also a MIDI mapping panel where you can manually map (almost) everything in Bitwig Studio to your hardware controller.

Can I access the Open Controller API in the Demo?

Yes, launch Bitwig Studio, open the Dashboard (Click the Bitwig logo in the header of the application window), got to Dashboard (Bitwig logo in the header) › Help › Documentation > Controller Scripting Guide…

Yes, Groove can be applied to note and audio clips.

Collaboration features are planned for future versions of Bitwig Studio. Network support is already built into the core of the software and the Bitwig Studio project file format is designed bearing collaboration features in mind. So collaboration is part of the DNA of Bitwig Studio. We are dedicated to further develop our own collaboration technology.

On how many machines can I authorize Bitwig Studio?

You can install Bitwig Studio on up to three machines at a time.

Most scripts come as single .js files (JavaScript), however many scripts need several files to work properly. The files need to be placed in a specific folder for Bitwig Studio to find it.

If you are downloading a script from GitHub (as linked from our community controller pages), I recommend you to download the script files as a Zip-archive.

1. On the GitHub page there should be a “Download ZIP” button on the right side. Click that to get all necessary files as an archive.

2. Save the ZIP-file to a location you can find easily, and unpack it once the download is complete.

3. Now you should copy or move the unpacked folder to a location so Bitwig Studio can find it, this is different depending on which operating system you have:

  • Documents/Bitwig Studio/Controller Scripts

  • %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Bitwig Studio\Controller Scripts\

4. Once you’ve moved or copied the folder containing the script to the above location open Bitwig Studio, go to Preferences and Controllers. Now you can try detecting the controller automatically, or add it manually.

Where can I download the manual?

The manual is available in English, German and Japanese as a PDF included with your purchase of Bitwig Studio or Demo download.

To access the manual, open the Dashboard - the Bitwig logo in the header of the application window - and go to Help › Documentation
